    • Description

Every herb carries a story, and every card carries a lesson.
When the two meet, the reading grows roots.
A 78-card tarot deck that pairs each card with its own herb. 🌿

The Herbal Tarot, created by herbalist Michael Tierra with artwork by herbalist and teacher Candis Cantin and published by U.S. Games Systems, is a classic 78-card deck first released in 1988. It follows the general structure of the Rider-Waite deck, but each card is assigned its own herb, chosen through intuition, astrological correspondence, and energetic qualities, and that herb is pictured and named right on the card. Several Major Arcana cards are renamed in an earth-honoring spirit: the Hierophant becomes the High Priest, the Hanged Man becomes the Suspended One, the Wheel of Fortune becomes the Medicine Wheel, and the Devil becomes Pan. Sprigs of rosemary, traditionally associated with remembrance, grace the card backs. The included booklet gives upright and reversed meanings along with the symbolic meaning of each herb. On your altar, this deck becomes a bridge between tarot wisdom and the living language of plants.

      Why You’ll Love It:

✔ 78 cards with an instruction booklet of upright and reversed meanings
✔ A different herb pictured and named on every card
✔ Rider-Waite structure with earth-honoring Major Arcana names
✔ Rosemary sprigs on the card backs
✔ Artwork by Candis Cantin under the direction of Michael Tierra
✔ Associated with plant symbolism, earth wisdom, and intuitive connection
✔ Pairs with our Herbcrafter's Tarot for a botanical tarot collection

      Perfect For:

✔ Tarot readers curious about herb symbolism
✔ Green witches and plant lovers
✔ Studying herbs and tarot side by side
✔ Readers who want a classic, time-tested botanical deck
      ✔ Journaling and contemplative practice
✔ A gift for the herbalist who also reads cards

How to Use It: Set a small dish of dried rosemary or a favorite herb on your altar and light a candle. Shuffle while you settle into your question, then draw one card and look first at the herb pictured on it. Before reading the booklet, notice what the plant brings to mind: its scent, its color, where you've seen it growing. Then read the card's meaning and the herb's symbolism, and see how the two speak to each other and to your question. Note the herb in your journal, and let it be your plant ally for the day. 🌿

Let the herbs and the cards speak together.

Care / Please Note: Herbal references are part of the deck's symbolism, not instructions for using herbs. Purchase includes the deck and booklet. Keep cards dry and away from open flame. Store in the box between readings. This deck is a tool for reflection and spiritual practice and is not a substitute for professional advice.
